This page contains answers to common questions handled by our support staff, along with some tips and tricks that we have found useful and presented here as questions.


How do I check when my license will expire?

Click on the Help menu and License submenu. The expiry date of your license will be displayed in the dialog box you see.


As an administrator, I cannot log on to the client. Why?

Check on the SS9 server that you have the "Log on to workstation" permission. To check, click staff access icon on the standard bar.

If problem persists, contact support team.


As a staff, I cannot log in on the client. Why?

Check on the SS9 server that you have the "Log on to workstation" permission. To check, click staff access icon on the standard bar.

If problem persists, contact support team.


My server does not have 5 free SMS. Why?

Then, it is either you are not connected to Internet or your credit has been used up.


I cannot import my old license. Why?

How do I transfer my license to another server?

Step 1: Click on Help menu, and license submenu.

Step 2: Write down the server id in a safe place.

Step 3: Click on Advanced tab

Step 4: Click Freeze license.

Step 5: Choose a password and click OK. Your server id becomes frozen.

Step 6: Install SS9 server on your new machine.

Step 7: On the new server, click on Help menu, and license submenu.

Step 8: Click on Advanced tab

Step 9: Click unfreeze. Fill in your old server id and password.

Step 10: If your password is correct, your license will be imported from our website.

 


Computer says, "Cannot find server", "auto searching for server", "loading new skin". Why?

Step 1: Check if SS9 server is running.

Step 2: Check your network connections.

Step 3: If the first 2 steps do not work, then reboot your system.


The SS9 Clients are not sending SMS. Why?

Check if SS9 server has SMS credit.

Check if your entries are correct.

Refresh and send again.


I cannot log out my time. Why?

Right-click on the timer icon on the menu bar.

Click on log-out


Some sites are not opening. Why?

Check your list of restricted sites.


If I reformat my server, will I get my license back?

After reformatting, your system will pick it's old license once you are connected to the Internet


Does SS9 server work on Windows 98?

SurfStation 9 server works on the following operating systems.

  • Windows 95, 98, Me (Not Recommended)
  • Windows NT 4.0
  • Windows 2000
  • Windows XP

SurfStation 9 client works on the following operating systems.

  • Windows 95, 98, Me
  • Windows NT 4.0 Workstation
  • Windows 2000
  • Windows XP

Why is it that when I try to install SS9, it keeps giving me errors?

End all programs before starting installation of SS9 (Including your current timer, SurfStation 8, if you are using it.)


How do I upgrade from an older version of SurfStation to SS9?

  • Backup your old version 7 or 8 database.
  • Uninstall your previous version.
  • Install SurfStation version 9.0.
  • Import your backed-up database into SurfStation 9.0.
